About Jim Quilty, Esq.
Mr. Quilty has been a practicing trial attorney for over 30 years. He has tried and/or arbitrated cases in Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Ohio, and Colorado. He has represented clients with legal matters pending across most of the United States, and in Canada, Australia and Costa Rica. His practice has focused on civil litigation, family law, criminal law and racing and gaming issues.
Jim is a 1993 graduate, Magna Cum Laude, of the University of Illinois College of Law. Upon graduation, Jim began his practice with a litigation firm in St. Louis, Missouri where he spent 6 years representing hospitals and doctors in medical malpractice cases pending in Missouri and central and southern Illinois, defending manufactures, and handling a variety of business litigation cases.
Jim moved to Des Moines in 1999 to accept a position with the national law firm of Dorsey and Whitney in their Des Moines office where he handled a variety of business litigation cases. In 2002, Jim joined what would become the Crawford & Quilty Law Firm where Jim handled the same types of cases, but his focus shifted from defending corporations and insurance companies to representing injured parties, families and small businesses.
Sensitive to your budgetary needs.
Jim formed his own firm in 2012 so he could better focus on delivering high quality legal work while being sensitive to the budgetary needs of his clients. When you employ the Quilty Law Firm, you will be working with Jim and not a paralegal or an attorney fresh out of law school. Jim believes part of quality representation is being accessible and responsive to his clients.
Jim is a native of the Quad Cities and has lived in Des Moines, Iowa since 1999. He has five children. Jim has been active as a volunteer in the Des Moines community through his children’s activities as well as being a past board member and President of the Sherman Hill Neighborhood Association, and past board member and Co-Chair of the Des Moines Arts Festival.
